Last Saturday I got the sense that the battery in my scooter was getting weak. I ordered a new one Sunday. Sunday night the scooter died on me and wouldn’t restart. Fortunately I was only four blocks from home, so I simply walked home and retrieved my truck to drag it home. Tonight I installed the new battery. As soon as I hooked it up, the headlights went on ... Without the key in. The headlights stay on no matter what, but other than that, the scooter is completely dead. I unhooked the battery, and resisted the urge to kick it over and smash it with a friend bar. It’s spent most of the last eight months non-op, and I’m getting sick of this shit.
Any ideas Oppo?

I feel that as a claims professional, I’d advise against this.
(I would totally do this)

I like the key switch idea. If the lights were “on” this whole time, maybe other things were on, too... could it have blown any fuses as the voltage got low?

I honestly have no idea. I need to find a wiring diagram.

Did you see if Hammer can help? Kitties are always so helpful with things.

What I’m getting out of this is that you decided to go through the trouble of loading your scooter into your truck instead of just pushing it 4 blocks home. How much does that thing weigh?

Ignition switch is my guess as well. See if you can track down a wiring diagram and trace the headlight circuit back

It might be. There’s a used Super 8 one on eBay as well, ships out of Great Briton. I’m going to try and find a new one, so long as the price isn’t too bad.

260 pounds. I walked my much lighter Elite 80 home two blocks a few weeks ago. That was a huge PITA. Decided the truck was worth it in this case. If I didn’t have the truck I would’ve hoofed it, but I do.

It’s Tiawanese. Kymco has been building scooters since the early-mid 60's, and they’re generally pretty good. They actually make parts for the Jap companies. I really love this how this scooter fits me, it handles great, looks great, and has plenty of power. That said ... I’m eyeballing Zuma 125's to replace it once I get it fixed. I want to ride. I got a great deal on it, so I should be able to break even, including parts.

Well he’s too adorable to be mad at. That paw just says, “I’m sleeping here dad, geese!”
He’s just so damn cute.

Yeah, he’s pretty freakin’ cute!
Honestly, he doesn’t have the temperament for a shop kitty. He’s the very embodiment of a scardy-cat. He’s great with the kids though.

I can certainly relate. The little lion Mufasa acts all rough and tough, but if he’s out front rolling and eating grass and sees a stranger, he immediately bolts inside and his heart starts racing. Same when someone knocks or rings the doorbell and he knows it’s not family he bolts to the back of the house.
But he is great with my little nephew’s. They’re probably about the same age as your kids. They’re so sweet and gentle with him. The three year old is hilarious and my sister brought him over and my mom answered the door and he pushed her out of the way and yelled, “Where your kitty?!?” It was hilarious. And everytime we go down there (San Diego), he always asks, “Where your kitty?”

DAW!
He and my oldest (5) were babies together, so for a while they were inseparable. He used to sneak into her bedroom at bedtime so he could spend the night with her. When we had our second (now 3), he was quite indifferent to her. Things have flipped though. The big one is just too much for him, she’s loud and wants to pick him up and rough house with him. He wants nothing to do with that. The little one just wants to pet him ever so gently and tell him what a good boy he is, and that has totally won him over.

AHA! I have you covered my friend! Here is evey piece of Super 8 info I have! If there’s one thing I am good at, it’s hording info on all the quirky vehicles I love! :D
The wiring diagrams are for the euro model I think with the 50cc or 125cc engine, but the wiring should all be exactly the same as your 150cc model!

That’s so adorable! The older boy is 6 now and he’s still very gentle, but the three year old just cracks me up. All he cares about is kitty. But they’re both good boys. We also have a dog my sister stole and they love her. Her name is halo. It was adorable when they were smaller they called her Hawo.

Parts have proven very difficult to find online for Kymco, but I’ve stumbled onto a dealership with a REALLY good parts ordering website. I found it by calling a local dealer. I really didn’t want to, because their sales staff is super slimey, but the service guy was really nice. That particular dealer doesn’t do enough Kymco work to help me out, as they have a $200 minimum on Kymco orders. He sent me to World or Powersports , which is where he gets stuff when he can’t make his $200 minimum.
